Crew Scheduling for Painting Companies: Days, Crews and Route Order
Scheduling painters is different from scheduling most service trades. A lawn crew does twenty stops a day. A painting crew might spend three days at one house. But the questions are the same: who is going where, in what order, and what do they need when they get there.
The Dispatch Board
The dispatch board shows jobs by crew and by day. Each job shows the address and the painting details, so whoever is building the week can see that Crew 2 has an exterior on Monday and a kitchen of cabinets on Wednesday.
Route Order on Small-Job Days
Some days are full of small jobs: two touch-ups, an accent wall and a drywall patch. Route order matters on those days. Set the order on the board, or let auto-routing order them, and the crew app shows them in that order.
Big Jobs Across Several Days
A whole-house interior that takes four days can be booked as a visit on each day it will take, so the crew's week is accurate and the office can see when they free up. Each day's visit shows the same job details.
Weather Moves Exteriors
Rain moves exterior work. When a front comes in, move the exterior visits to the next dry days and pull an interior job forward from the Waiting List. Customers whose dates changed can get a text from the inbox.
Night-Before Texts Keep Customers Ready
Once the week is set, night-before texts tell each customer when the crew is coming and what to do, like clearing small items off the walls. See Customer Texts for Painting Companies.
Print Sheets for Painters Who Want Paper
Some painters still want a sheet. Print the day for each crew. The crew app and the sheet come from the same schedule, so they never disagree.
